Blighted Ovum???

I went to the doc today and we just saw a sac and nothing in it, my follow up is next week. For those who had a blighted ovum when was it discovered and what did you do i.e. dnc or natural?

 TIA...holding out for hope, but know the reality of life...

    Aren't you still WAYYY early in pregnancy?? I think you should not think of m/c yet. I'm holding hope  for you.

    ETA: Your BFP was on 8/28/09, you shouldn't see anything on an ultrasound yet...

    Thanks ladies, I had a small amount of spotting that has stopped and I just called the Doc office and they just told me to come in, i was having some pain on my right side it turns out it is just a cyst, I am still early and had no expectations to see a heartbeat or anything, but looking at the internet there still should have been something in there. I will always have hope but just wanted to know others experience. My true appointment is next Wednesday.

    This TTC after a loss makes me crazy, this whole experience has rocked my world and made me more paranoid than I ever though possible.

    Stay positive! I knew mine was a Blighted Ovum at my u/s apt because I charted and knew the day I Oed and the baby shoul have had a heart beat and measured at almost 8 weeks...we measured at 4w3d

    They wanted me to wait it out...they did not seem that worried but said I will probably start spotting or bleeding soon if it was going to be a m/c. I started spotting the next day...

    You really should stay positive but I wanted to answer your question as well because mine was a blighted ovum and when I was going through all of that I wanted answers more then just hope...

    First of all, I agree w/pp. You're probably way too early to see anything yet. My sil's 5 wk ultrasound showed nothing more than a sac. I'm fairly sure you don't see anything until into the 6th wk.......

    Secondly, I had a blighted ovum. I was almost 8wks. They saw a fetal pole, but no baby-- and since I didn't chart, they had me wait a week and go back in just to make sure that my dates weren't off. They weren't. I continued to measure w/my lmp but no baby. At 10wks5days I had a d&c w/no fetal pole even present. I opted for the d&c because i had no signs of a natural miscarriage. I had no spotting, no cramping.

    As for the d&c---it was really quick and I was surprized at the recovery. I had very minimal cramping and the spotting stopped w/in the first week. I got AF back 5 wks later.

     ~~~~Most importantly, you need to stay positive. There is still a very good possibility that you're just way too early to see anything and that everything is fine. Keep us posted!!~~~~~

    Mine was discovered around 5 or 6 weeks, but I was bleeding for around 14 days when it was confirmed. 

    I too thought you were quite early still.  Hang in there.

    Mine was discovered when I was supposed to be around 8 weeks, and I was measuring 6 weeks...no heartbeat. Please don't give up hope yet!!

    keep you hopes up - you are early! I did have a blighted ovum my first pg - and went natural. IF this happens to you - page me next week, I'm happy to give you support and the info my Doc gave me about the b.o. which was really helpful. BUT for now - it's too early - keep hope!
    m/c#1 07/16/08 (11 weeks), m/c#2 10/10/08 (8 weeks). and then nothing since except every test possible (no answers). IUI#1 and #2: BFNs Super lucky to be buddies with Peetie. Our out of nowhere, surprise DD born 5/29/2011

    I agree with pp... Keep the faith... I had a BO but I should have been 8 weeks and was measuring 6 weeks with no fetal pole and no HB.  I did not want to wait for a natural MC and I was showing no signs of one and the Dr was able to get me in for a D&C the next day so I took it.... It went well and AF showed up 5 weeks later...

    I wish you the best...
