Pump recommendations?

Which Madela pump would you ladies recommend for someone who will be going back to work full time. It seems like the Freestyle would be the best bet but I was wondering what your experience is. TIA

Re: Pump recommendations?

  • I would recommend the freestyle though I have no comparison other than the hospital grade I tried once at 8 weeks and hated.  It's small, light weight, has a nice letdown feature, comes with straps so I don't have to wiggle on a handsfree sportsbra a few times a day at work, and I can pump in the car w/o worry of plugs.  I charge it up every other night or so.  I've never used the memory feature - I like to press the buttons I guess.  No matter what you get most of us would recommend getting an extra set of horns and enough bottles so you can wash less often.  During the day I put my horns in a ziplock in the fridge and use over throughout the day and for my 1 night pump then wash.  Shop around online for the best price, I bought mine for $270.

  • i use the medela pump in style advanced. it comes in a ugly black backpack, but the actual pump is just a tiny little thing, and so i take it out and put it in a small purse/bag with the plug and the tubes. my extra shields and bottles stay at work, and i just rinse them after each use, and wash them at the end of the day. i love the let down feature and even though its not hands free, for me its pretty close, esp after its fitted in my bra and the suction is established.  (if you have kaiser its way cheaper than at BRU or target, i only pad $200)
