Thrush prevention

Any advice on how to prevent my baby from getting thrush? ?I breastfeed and supplement with a bottle of formula at night. ?TIA

  • Pray? IDK. I dont think it's really something you can prevent. It's a buildup of yeast.

  • Wash everything your breasts come into contact with every day in warm water.

    Clean all pump parts and nipples/pacis by boiling with white vinegar every day for 20 min.

    Change nursing pads after every feed.

  • All good advice, plus you can get a probiotic at Whole Foods.

    We had thrush twice, it sucked. The probiotic helped a lot and I don't usually "believe in" supplements.

    BTW, I think 20 min seems like kind of a long time, especially for every day. Maybe more like 3-5 min?

    Also, I made a spray bottle with 10:1 water:white vinegar and sprayed on the nips after every feeding. Also washed my nursing pads and nursing tanks in hot water with 1/4c of vinegar added in.

    20 Min is just what my LC/Ob said to do.... I donno LOL!!

    Yes also to the vinegar wash on the nips!
