Pediatrician's near Royal Oak

Can anyone recommend their pediatrician to me that is somewhere near Royal Oak/Troy?  My coworker suggested Merrillwood on Woodward but they were not on the list my OBGYN gave me (Generations in Bham). I always went to the Ped. Consultants of Troy growing up as a kid and have heard good things about the practice recently but I was hoping to find something a little closer than Troy Beaumont area.

Thanks for your help ladies! :)

  • Hi!  I go to Generations too :)  We chose Dr. Molly O'Shea.  She is a Beaumont doctor and came highly recommended.  She has a lot of info on her website.  The web address is:

     https://www.birminghampediatrics.com.

She is located in Troy right by Somerset Mall.  Super easy to get to!  We visited/interviewed her.  Great office, staff and she is VERY easy to talk to!

    Gook Luck :)

  • Merrillwood was on my list so I went to visit them and I wasn't so impressed.  The dr. I met with was very nice but seemed sort of ditzy.  I also visited Royal Oak Pediatrics (almost across the street from Merrillwood on Woodward) and I liked the people but I didn't get to meet with any of the drs.  I had a hard time deciding so I went with a 3rd, Michigan Adult and Child Medicine.  The drs. are all trained in adults and children.  I met with Dr. Fisher, who is new to the practice, and I loved him.  I was there chatting with him (after 5pm) for over an hour.  He was definitely not in a hurry, which I liked.  I liked the people, I really liked him, and there are 4 other drs. there (men and women), too.  It's in Warren behind the Warren city offices, which is more of a drive than I wanted, but I think it will be worth it.  They only do RO Beaumont.

  • I go to Eastman and Wozniak in Birmingham (Eton and 14 mile).  We mostly see Dr. Wozniak and she is great.  We also saw Dr. Bolton when we had to take our baby to the ER a day after she was discharged and she was awesome, too.  I don't think they have a website but they have prenatal appts.
  • I take my DS to Merrillwood and have been very happy.  They always have a nurse available during the day to answer questions or concerns.  I also have been able to get an appointment on short notice.  We see Dr. Wisnewski and love her.  She is very friendly and never seems to be in a rush during our visits.
  • We're going to Pediatric Specialists of Bloomfield Hills. They are at Square Lake and Woodward. I interviewed them and absolutely loved Dr.Coleman. I also really really liked that the 72 hour visit is a home visit, meaning they will come to our house to see our newborn instead of us trekking to their office. They are working on a breastfeeding group which I think is pretty cool.
  • I go to Generations too! They're the best!!

We go to Merrillwood as well. I'm pleased but not overly impressed. The staff is super friendly and I always get a nurse right away when I call with a question. We see Dr. Laska who is very knowledgeable and we never feel rushed at our appointments.

On the downside, the last two times we've had an appointment we've had to wait an hour before seeing a doctor. The first time she had an urgent phone call and the second time she was over at Beaumont. I'm hoping they were both fluke incidents and our next appointment is more timely. The practice is beginning to grow on me.

I went to RO Pediatrics as a child myself and I loved the staff there. My husband went to Merrillwood so we decided to go there. If you're unsure about where to go, give them a call and set up some interviews. I'm sure once you visit a couple of places your Mom instinct will kick in and you'll know which one is best for you!

  • I've heard great things about Pediatric Specialists from several of my friends, too.  They were on our list but we went with Dr. Wozniak b/c it's closer to our house.
