Brief Update (brother & brain surgery)

The surgery went wel on Friday night. The doctors were able to take samples of the infection so we now have an official diagnosis - zygomycosis and meningitus.  He's on a couple anti-fungal meds now.  The next few days will be critical as the infection needs to respond to these meds. His blood vessels are very constricted from the infection (one of the 3 main vessels to the brain is closed off) so the doctors are still worried about stroke.  He's doing well though.  He's eating well and has been up and walking.  He's joking around with the nurses.

That's great that the surgery went well and that he now has a diagnosis.  I hope he responds quickly to the meds.

I'm glad they have an official diagnosis.  My thoughts are with you and your family.  It sounds like his spirits are up and that is great news!!
