BF suck for me

so i went from EBF to EP to now i think it will be formula. pumping is too much for me and DH. i can't pump without a second person in the house to take care of LO. i pump right when LO naps/sleep but when she wakes up, i can' t get up and attend to LO cause i'm in the middle of pumping.

 this sucks for me.

  • I'm sorry to hear that-are you posting b/c you want encouragement/tips to keep going?  Why did you switch from epf to ep?  I hear you, ep is hard!  When ds was 2-7 weeks old, I bf'd, then pumped after most feedings-my life was consumed by nursing/pumping/washing bottles and pump parts.

I would pump when ds was in the swing or bouncy chair right next to me so I could entertain him if need be.

  • i went from bf to ep because we're taking time off for my nipple pain. lo doesn't latch well. LO doesn't open wide and when LO does she slowly closed up her mouth and gives me a lipstick nipple. we'll try bf again when my nipple recover. i know bottle is what LCs completely discourage when latching is not there.

i don't own a swing or bouncy chair, pretty much LO is in her bassinet rocker when she's sleeping. being she's not 1 month yet, she's awake much. but when she is awake, she wants to be held or needs changing.

i think i posted to let my feelings out.

  • Have you tried a nipple shield?  We had latching issues from day one and I EP the first week...it is really challenging with a newborn.  We then met with an LC and started on the nipple shield which allowed me to BF.  We used the shield for 3 months until she was able to latch on her own.
