I'm so glad you asked this question! I've been wondering that too. I just googled it and it brought me here...where I spend all day anyways... perfect! Now I can eat it without worrying.. thanks
The majority of cheese sold in basic grocery stores are pasteurized (sp?) You really only need to worry about specialty cheese and gourmet food stores. I love cheese dip :-) Yummy.
Re: Tostito's Salsa Con Queso
Heat it up and you'll be fine.
Super processed. Probably not even cheese.
Just looked up the ingredients...here's a partial list:
maltodextrin, natural flavors, salt, sodium hexametaphosphate, monosodium glutamate, sodium citrate, DATEM, sodium phosphate, artificial colors (yellow 5 and yellow 6), spice, and soy lecithin.
You're fine. No yucky bugs can live in all of that mess.
(And now I want chips and cheese dip. And THIS is why I should stay away from The Bump!!!)
Exactly what DH said. Thanks, ladies!!
