Talk to me about liver platelets. I think that is their worry (or what they are being cautious about right now with me). I looked online and I was reading things that was saying numbers in the thousands but the numbers I have been hearing about are in the hundreds, like 150 being normal..... what is the deal with platelets and what is actually considered "bad"??
Re: Hellp ladies
So mine were 172 on Mon when I was in triage and then send home and 145 when I was admitted yesterday. Do you think a drop from 172 to 145 in essentially 72 hrs is bad? She did say they are not low enough to worry about but they are watching closely... said if they keep falling they will start checking every 6 hours.... what do you guys think about this?
BTW, BP is sooo fine. Riddiculously low which makes me feel like I could not be here.... better safe than sorry.
When they say "150", they mean 150,000.
My platelets fell to 91,000 while I was in the hospital last week, so they decided to induce labor. THANK GOD they rose on the day I needed the epidural. Most Dr's will not let you have an epidural at below 100,000. Mine were 101,000 on delivery day.
In a normal pregnancy, platelets should be between 140,000 and 200,000. The fact that yours are falling will alert the dr's to keep a close watch.
My platelets fell to 60,000 after the birth, but are now back up to 126,000.
I am having a c/s so I wonder how low platelets would effect that. I know they were low when I had my c/s with my son - but I did not have the numbers. I got a spinal though. I am not sure it is better or worse to be more knowledgeable. Last time it was like your protein is high, platelets are low and enzymes are high - I had not numbers tied to it, knowing the numbers and cut off now is a little like watching a pot boil.... I was told by an OB friend that the steroid shot should boost my platelets, at least temporarily so that will be nice. I am glad your body is on the mend and getting closer to normal. Thanks so much for your help. Are you on the preemie board too if I have a question and need to find you?
