So my dd just got her bottom two middle teeth a few weeks ago and so far it is ok nursing! I am wondering as she gets more teeth does it hurt and if they bite what do you do? THanks!
My son is 7 1/2 months, has his two bottom teeth, and we're still OK nursing! I raised this issue at a LLL meeting earlier in the summer, and the leaders said that teeth usually aren't as bad as everyone fears. We may be bit once or twice, but gentle discipline usually corrects the problem.
I never really had a problem with biting, but then my dd didn't get teeth until she was 14.5 months old. I recall she bit once or twice but quickly learned that it was not ok. I think I just told her not to and ended the nursing session. I think some babies will start to bite once they're done eating and just want to play, so if you can end it then or pre-emptively end once playtime is going to start, you can avoid it.
Another piece of advice I've heard is that if you think they are winding up to bite, pull them in closer--they can't bite down with a mouth full of boob.
