How many balls of yarn should I buy and what type/quality?

My mom doesn't have a pattern, she can wing it and I can't call and ask.

    If it matters to her at all that's crochet.  Acrylic yarn will hold the shape the best - the cheap stuff works better usually for that kind of thing.  The RedHeart, worsted weight.

    1 ball would be more than enough for the green - the rest would be tiny amounts.

    LOL I'd offer to do it but I suck at sizing.  It'd either fit an antelope or a gnat if I tried.
