Why does my SIL always do this?

My brothers and sister and I were going to go in on a birthday gift for my dad. I talked to my older brother about it on our vacation last month and again a couple of weeks ago asking if they were still in. He assured me they were.

FF to today, my little calls to do final plans and my SIL informs him that she already got something for my dad and that my brother didn't consult her about going on a gift for my dad. She does this every freakin' time!!!

So now, we are trying to decide if we want it to be from the 3 of us. My mom is going to be asking if we left them out. I have in the past, just eaten his share, but I refuse to do it this time.

That's not cool.  DH is responsible for his own parents gifts unless he asked me to get something and even then he specifies what to get.

I would certainly not put their name on it.  Why have you done so in the past?  It then looks like not only did they give $$ to the collective gift but also spend $$ on their own individual gift to him.  Makes them look like the "favored couple"...KWIM?  If mom asks if they were included just say yes but they decided to get something for him on their own.
