Macy's Maternity RANT.....

I spent about $350 at Macy's buying some work appropriate maternity clothes about 2 weeks ago. The lady that rung me out was totally not paying attention and I kept asking her if she took off all the security tags (you can see where this is going...) and she assured me she did. 

Fast forward to this morning.  I'm running late, I have a meeting I need to dress up for...so I put on one of my new black maternity dresses and head for the door.  I feel something strange on my thigh and I look down and the freakin lady left on the damn security tag...and not just ANY security tag the ones with the freakin INK in them so if you try to take it off it throws ink everywhere.  I took the tags off  this morning since I was planning to wear it and the receipt is gone since this was over 2 weeks ago.........WTF i'm so ticked off. 

If I try to go back in the store, the freakin buzzer thing will go off and I have no receipt to prove what went on..............NOW WHAT?  I had to wear a skirt today that BARELY fits me and I feel like a cow b/c this lady couldn't pay attention and now i'm screwed...........

  • Did you pay with plastic?  Macy's can look it up, at least they could when I worked there years ago.

  • ohh I hate when that happens..The only suggestion I can think of is when you have time see if you paid with a cc and try to print out your statement and take it to the store..GL!
  • I did pay with a CC --debit....so I will try that route, so that is some reassurance I get this taken care of......but i'm still ticked off i have to be totally inconvienienced!!!!

  • I used to work in retail and this happens a lot.  If you bought a lot of stuff, a tag can get missed.

    Call your store's customer service and explain the situtation.  More often then not, they will just want you to bring it back in and they will take it off for you.  Just let them know when you are going to come by.  I would always leave a note for my employees with the person's name and desciption of the item so they could take it off without the recipt if I was not there.

     Believe it or not, store employees can really tell the difference between someone who got a tag left on and someone who is bringing something back stolen.  People who have stolen something ususally have a device to take the tag off at home.  They don't bother to come back.  (shoplifters drove me nuts as a store manager, so trust me I know!)

  • The same thing happened to me with a winter coat last winter.  Luckily, I still had the reciept.  Hopefully customer service takes care of you.

  • Put it back in the Macy's bag, call ahead and ask to speak to a manger in the dept where you were rung up, give the description of the girl who completed your transaction and didn't take off the security tags. Advise them you are coming back in for them to take it off so you can now use the items you purchased before.
  • If you stick it in the freezer for a few hours you can pop it off without having the ink problem. That's what a person who works at the store told my mom one time!

  • I have had the worst experience ever buying maternity clothes from Macy's and the ladies at the register were the most rude people ever. I went there with a one day sale coupon. Nowhere on the coupon did it say anything about excluding maternity or Motherhood products. At the register they said they don't accept any coupons for maternity. I'm not exactly the kind of person to take no for an answer, so I fought it and after about 20 minutes of arguing, they gave me the discount. You can not give a coupon out that lists a million exceptions and then tell me that I can't use it for something that isn't even on there!

  • I'm pretty sure you can just take this back in without a receipt.  It was their fault.  They shouldn't give you any problems and if they do ask to speak with a manager.
