Great now we need a new oven and I almost died when

I saw how much new ones cost.  I just took me 3 hrs to bake 5 pork chops on 350 after an hr and still not even slightly cooked raised the temp to 400 after another hour and a half of cooking moved to 450.  Now I have to stay up untill they are cool enough to put in the fridge.

All the new ones are either not as wide as ours or two wide and they are all to tall so we need to lose some cabnet sapce and make the hole a little wider because anything smaller then what we have wont foot my cookie sheets (they just fit now and to cook a turkey for thanksgiving we have to use the guys across the street).

  • If you're just looking for function with no frills at all, you can get a new stove (gas or electric) for less than $400. Or, check craigslist! People upgrade their stoves and sell their perfectly good ones for super cheap. I hope you can find something!

  • Is yours a built-in?  That's what we have and I felt woozy just doing a little comparison shopping for when ours goes.

  • Ours is a wall unit.  We have to use our home depot card so we can use the no payments for 12 mos.  Our tax check will pay it off at the end of this year.  I guess I cant hate the over to much it was put in during the 70's so its lasted a long time.

  • You sure you don't just need a new thermostat?   Our oven was having that issue & when we replaced the thermostat it was fine.
