We're coming up with food for PAC's party on the 12th. There's nowhere to heat things up, so we need stuff at room temperature. The kids are getting pizza, but we're making the food for the adults (about 30 of them). Here's the tentative menu:
- Cucumber, Potato and Dill Salad
- Bean Salad
- Some sort of pasta salad (probably penne with antipasto-type stuff)
- Mango chutney salad (maybe)
- assorted grilled vegetables
- grilled chicken breast strips (cold)
- homemade roast beef (sliced)
- regular salad and dressing
- rice and beans (from MIL)
- hummus and babaganoush
- stuffed grape leaves
- sliced tomatoes
- bread rolls
WDYT? We figured we could have a regular salad out as well as rolls so people could build their own salads or sandwiches. Should I add anything else? Maybe a cheese plate? Fresh figs and bleu cheese?
I'm going to ask for advice on desserts next. I just want to have everything square away by this weekend, ya know?
Re: Check this out: menu planning help please :)
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
thanks guys. I come from a family where we have an overabundance of food for any occasion (we're Mediterranean, what can I say?) so not having a hot meal makes me nervous.
I think a cheese plate may be in order. The grilled veggies would go awesome with goat cheese...mmm...DH is making most of the stuff, I'll probably make the grape leaves and baba and hummus. Surprisingly, all of this stuff is WAY easy to make. I just feel like all of this is finger food, since there's no entree.
And Bubs--I have a great recipe for baba ganoush. I'm going to post everything only my blog after the par-tay.
