My DD who is 2, just transitioned to a Big bed. She has done really well, no problems, except she now wakes up at 5:00 when she used to wake up at 7:30.
Any suggestions on getting her to sleep longer? I am not keen on having her come to bed with us or turning on the TV for her, so I am looking for other creative ideas.
Also, did this happen to anyone else? Did they get back on their normal sleep routine?
Re: RP: Big girl bed woes...
Do you have tp go in and get her when she wakes up, or does she hang out? DS was up at 5:00/5:30 AM for a year straight, so we did all sorts of tricks to have him stay in bed longer (of course, he is still in a crib, don't know if it makes a difference)
First, we don't go in and get him until 7 AM until absolutely necessary. If he is crying, etc. and won't settle we go in, leave the lights off let him know everyone is still sleeping and he needs to stay in bed longer.
Right before I go to bed for the night I go into his room and sneak some of his favorite books into his crib. That way when he wakes in the morning he usually spends some time "reading"
We got him a digital clock at Target that has each number in a different color. He knows that when the green number is a 7 it is time to get up.
I don't know anything that actually helps them SLEEP longer other than them just doing it on their own - DS just did it one day. Sorry I am no help with that.
We are! But she's 2.5. I don't know what's going on but I'm tired. She has to be too!
I've heard that some say they can get out of the bed when they see the sun ... crap, at 5 am, she has a good 1.5. Sorry, no advice but I know what you're going through.
