Anyone want to help with preschool application???

I'm filling out an application for my son's preschool for NEXT September.  One of the questions is:

"What special interests an areas of expertise (personal or professional) would you as parents like to share with the school community?"

UGH.  ???  I'm kind of stumped.  I'm a SAHM- so I plan to say something about how I'd like to contribute my time with any volunteer opportunities.  I'm not sure what else though?  I'm starting a master's program in library science next fall- but not sure if that helps.  I don't know- my husband is an accountant/couch potatoe- so not sure what I could say about him.

Any suggestions???

  • Ours wasn't worded quite the same way, but I told them I'm pretty good at drawing. I also love to read aloud to kids. I'm sure you could put something like that. Think of something the kids would probably enjoy doing with you and use that.

That's what I did, anyway. My DH is an archaeologist, so I suggested maybe he could do a mock archaeological excavation with the kids. My suggestions for myself were much more mundane. :)

  • Are they asking because they want to know what you could contribute to the school or could this help your child get into the school? I have no experience, just curious. My son attends a public preschool due to a language disability.
  • Thanks for your reply!  So far I have this:

Being a stay at home mother, I hope to contribute my time with any volunteer opportunities that may be available.  I will also be enrolled part-time in a master?s program for library science.  I could assist with any activities that would help encourage the children?s passion for reading, such as reading aloud, library visits, etc.

My husband is an avid sports fan and would enjoy any outdoor activity with the children.

** Not sure what else to write for DH???

I would assume both- it's a private pre-school (we don't have any public), so he does have to be accepted.

Sounds good to me. I'm not sure what else you could put in there.
