Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Did your LO still have a little bit of the tongue reflex when you started solids?

I know I've been posting all day with questions about solids and now I'm even wondering if I should stop and wait a couple more weeks.  DD doesn't like the rice cereal, so I thought I might move on to pears or avocado or something.  But when I tried the cereal the last few days she still has a little bit of that tongue reflex where she pushes it out of her mouth.  She doesn't push it all out of her mouth though.  I thought she was ready because she was showing some other signs, but now I don't know.  what do you think?  Did your LO still have a little bit of that reflex when you started them on solids?

  • We just started introducing DS solids to see if he was ready and he does not have that extrusion reflex anymore.  We're still not feeding him solids regularly until 6 months though.  Maybe your LO isn't quite ready yet.  I would wait a couple weeks and try again later.  No harm in waiting :)

  • If you don't think she likes the rice cereal, try some oatmeal.  Then move to the veggies and fruit.

DD still would push some out with her tounge.  She still does.  I think that is normal baby eating though.
