Ok, this is my first pregnancy, and I was told at the doctor they would do the 1 hr glucose when I am 28 weeks...so for ladies that have had this..what exactly is it? I know that glucose is sugar and blah blah, but how do they test and why do they call it 1 hr? Do you have to sit there for an hour to get tested? Please just clue me in on what it is and what to expect.

Yes you sit there for an hour. You drink a sugary solution and they test for gestational diabetes.
It's a test for Gestational Diabetes. They draw your blood to test initial glucose levels, then you drink this sugary drink (mine last time tasted like Orange Pop), wait an hour and then they take your glucose level again. If your numbers are too high, you go back a second time for a 3 hr. glucose test (same thing, but they take blood 4 times--1st draw, 1 hour, 2 hours then 3 hours later).
Last time I failed the 1 hr., but passed the 3 hr.
It depends on where you live and who your doctor is regarding sitting there. I get to drink my drink at home and then come in at the one hour mark rather than just sitting there for an hour.
