I have a neighbor with 4 kids, 3 in high school and 1 about a month younger than K. A couple weeks ago I witnessed her oldest daughter come home with the LO in the car only she was facing forward and not buckled in to anything. NO base NO seatbelt NOTHING. I mentioned it to my mom later that day and she told me that the daughter driving probably wouldn't have done that unless she had witnessed one of her parents doing it. Fast forward to today...I was out checking the mail and the mom was leaving with the LO. Sure enough she just tossed (honestly tossed) the LO's seat into her SUV and drove off. I usually mind my own business but this really concerns me. I have spoken to this woman numerous times in passing and I know she is very outspoken and very opinionated. I on the other hand am not a controversial person and I know she will not appreciate being called out. So do I say something to her or mind my own business and continue to worry about her poor DD's safety? WWYD?
Re: WWYD- I'm concerned
I don't know that talking to her is goign to matter. She'll get defensive and pissy w/ you. I don't know if CPS can do anything about this, but I'd be tempted to report her to them. That's just SO dangerous. And how fricking hard is it to put a base in and click the carseat in?
That just disgusts me. but I"m sure her arguement is "I was never in a carseat and I'm fine!".

Ditto! I would totally call the police and say this exactly.
Good idea. Whatever it takes, I would definitely report it. Think about if you ever heard that something happened to the baby while she was in the car--and you could have (but didn't) report it. That's my rational for this being a "definitely call right away" situation. GL, and keep us posted...
