I'm visiting there with DH and DD at the end of October - any suggestion of what's good to do with a baby? We're staying at the Marriot Hotel and Marina and won't have a car. We're doing the zoo one day, anything else you can recommend to fill our days!? Thx!
Re: GASuzuki - just realized you're from San Diego
::butting in:: I live there too
You'll be right by Seaport Village, it's a fun little place to walk around with kids. You should also take the ferry over to Coronado Island and have lunch at The Hotel Del Coronado, it's a beautiful town with lots of neat little shops to peruse.
When are you coming? We can meet at the zoo!
How long will you be here? There are a lot of great things... MamaMyers is also familiar (probably even more than me) with things to do around here. As for me, my suggestions include:
Sea World is a blast with its cute little marine dwellers! The penguins and the manatees are my faves.
Legoland is in Carlsbad, a fair drive from town, but if you think it may be of interest to your LO, worth the time.
Seaport Village has a bunch of cool little shops and a beautiful view of the water.
The Wild Animal Park is also a cool animal experience. It's more exertion than the zoo, but it is also worth the effort.
Balboa Park is a fun place to see as well!
HTH!
Butt in all you want, MamaMyers!
We'll be there October 21st - 24th - a quick trip. DH has a convention at the hotel so we're tagging along since we only have to pay for my airfare! We're doing the zoo on Wednesday since it's the only weekday that DH doesn't have to work during the day, and we leave early on Saturday AM.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I heard Seaport Village is cute - and I read something about the Gaslamp district? I've also found a few havens of chocolate that I'm intent on visiting - Heavenly Cupcake and Chocolat?
Ahh, a quick trip! The best kind!
I haven't heard of Heavenly Cupcake or Chocolat. We do have a place called "Chuao," which makes awesome spicy chocolates! That's more toward the La Jolla area.
That Chuao place looks intriguing...I just looked it up and they apparently have ice cream at the cafes? Sounds good to me!!! I just looked up Coronado Island and saw they have a cupcake place as well! I'm a bit of a cupcake wh0re if you couldn't tell already!
I just know that all this post-pregnancy dieting is prepping me for this trip...it's not going to be pretty and I might need a seat belt extender on the way home!
The Gaslamp is fun, more for adults but fun to look at the shops guring the day. You can also stroll over to Horton Plaza for some shopping.
Heavenly Cupcake is on 6th I believe, we were going to go there the other night but there was nowhere to park, and I didn't want to pay 20 bucks to park just for a cupcake
Yeah, Mama's right... The Gaslamp is an adult fun kinda place. There are lots of chichi restaurants and bars... Oooh, well, there IS a Ghiradelli, which may be worth the trip.
And if you're in Horton, let me know! I work in the NBC building right next door!
