I have a coworker friend that is going to TTC within the next couple weeks, and she has a question:
If you used the Shettle's Method was it correct? If it was correct, was the gender chart correct too or was it showing opposite gender?
She wants to try for a boy, but her gender chart shows girl, and she plans to try the Shettle's Method.
I told her more than likely the Shettle's method will trump the gender chart anyways since you are trying a real method and the gender chart is just for fun.
What was your experience? Did your Shettle's Method work or was it wrong? Was your gender chart correct or wrong? ?
Re: Shettle's Method vs. Gender Chart ?
Shettle's worked for a boy this time...the gender chart was also correct for me both times
Neither "method" works. Of course 50% of the people who try for a specific gender will get the one they wanted. But there aren't any scientific studies that show the Shettles method is any better than chance.
I'm in the middle-end of Shettles' book. He claims that with CORRECT and COMPLETE usage of his methods, to be 90% successful for boy and 75-80% successful for girl.
I can't believe people actually think gender charts have something to do with the sex of their fetus. Really?
I guess both rang true for us. The gender chart said boy and eventhough we were not trying any certain method, the theory of shettles method trying close to ovulation for a boy. FWIW- all gender charts are not created equal...I found that the one you have to figure out your chinese age and lunar month conception is the one that was correct, not the one on the bump.
Try it out...
