Pregnancy Acne

I have had pretty bad acne for a very long time. Now and again it clears up, but I have only found one treatment that is considered "safe" during pregnancy (besides soap and water). It's called aquanil. It doesn't have the harsher stuff in it. Not that you should use it while pregnant, but even Proactive broke me out worse. Anybody had any success?

Re: Pregnancy Acne

  • I've been using dove soap and a wash cloth as an exfoliator in the morning and regular washing w/o a wash cloth at night. Its not nearly as effective as I would like it to be however, I have noticed a considerable difference when I don't use it for a few days then begin using it again. Maybe this will help you? GL!

  • I didn't realize clean and clear was ok?  I've been using Cetaphil, and it's better, but not gone.

  • I was at the dermatologist today for this issue....  I have always suffered from on/off breakouts, but pregnancy has made things SSSSOOOOOO bad!  In addition to the prescription topical cream I was given, I was told to continue to use Cetaphil wash and moisturizer and find a water based makeup.  I feel like the Cetaphil has helped my face a bit alone, and it is gentle enough to use 2-3 times a day.  Good luck!
  • I actually just read somewhere today that Proactive on pregnant skin usually makes your skin worse...weird how that is.  I heard Burt's Bee's acne line works really well and I'm going to pick some up tomorrow1

  • I have found that a gentle exfoliator works great... I use the Philosophy microderm stuff... I don't know what it's called, but it's a wonderful product, and my skin is now as clear as a bell.

It's called Microdelivery and it is AWESOME!

  • I had mild acne before pregnancy and it has gotten worse. The doctor gave me cetaphil to wash with and then a prescription of clyndamycin which is one of the only prescriptions available that doesn't harm the baby at all. It works beautifully and keeps me pretty clear.
