I had mine today and the u/s was great. The baby was moving around and it was so exciting to see how it had changed since the 8-week u/s. Then the doctor came in and told me that the baby's neck was measuring thicker than expected, and that I should be prepared to receive a higher than normal risk for chromosomal abnormalities when they get the full test results back.
I was really upset at first, but after doing a lot of internet research, found that this is not uncommon and that the babies turn out to be fine. Did anyone else have a scare like this? What was your experience?
Re: Anyone do first tri screening?
pretty much this for us too.... we din't have an NT scan, just the blood panel and it was normal. our baby just has one tiny little cyst and we are also hoping that it goes away. my doctor isn't concerned, but i had a day or two of meltdown about it last week.
even though our situation is a little bit different, i know how you feel. it is scary. i told my husband yesterday that i have just decided that everything is going to be okay. waiting is really hard, but i love this baby and will do whatever it takes!
GL to you and you are in my thoughts.
Everything with ours looked good except for a small cyst on the wall of my uterus which they said looked like it should be fine. I too loved seeing the baby moving around, they also told us from what they were seeing it was a boy but where we were at 12 weeks they might not be right. At our 20 week U/S they confirmed it is a boy and the cyst hasn't changed so I shouldn't worry about it.
Good luck with your results, it's probably nothing.
