side- laying BF and burping question...

when you BF side laying at night does your LO seem to get gassy because you dont burp them? my dd is gassier in general at night because she's sooo lazy after a nite feed that by morning she's really gassy. even when I nurse in the glider and try to burp her shes already back asleep and non reactive. what can I do?

supposedly they are less gassy side-laying, so i dont burp. when nursing up right, i burp for a few min then give up...i figure lo doesnt need to burp too bad.
