There is a huge baby boom going on generally, and in Seattle in particular, and especially at my place of business. In my office alone there is a woman on maternity leave, one due mid November, me (due December), and K, due January with twins. Evidently K is now out on bedrest until her twins arrive, AND will not be returning to work afterward.
I'm nervous for her, and bummed that she won't be back. But it is days like this that make me so grateful to be having a (knock wood) uncomplicated pregnancy. As much as twins would have been an incredible blessing, I think singleton pregnancies tend toward being much easier - you twin mamas are tough ladies!!
(and just as a vent - in April our office laid of 15 people; in June it was announced that our CEO is retiring; and on Friday my boss (the VP) announced her resignation. We're dropping like flies!!!)
Re: Colleague pg w/twins on bedrest at 20w
As much as it would suck to have to do that, better safe than sorry!!
Those shows on Discovery Health freak me out sometimes...
I'm expecting twins in February and have been on partial bedrest since week 12 - have to lay down for 2 hours in the am, 2 hours in the afternoon, and 2 hours in the evening. I'm expecting to be on full-time bedrest by week 28-30. Sucks, but gotta keep those babies in as long as possible!
You might want to send your friend some things to keep her entertained - books, crossword puzzles, maybe even a small craft project type thing. It does get boring!?
