TTC After a Loss

Not sure what to do...poll m/c related I know wrong board but I trust you guys more

Okay so as I mentioned I got the doc to change my D&E (I hope it's not a D&C)  from last Friday until tomorrow. I hated that when he decided the pg was over on Thursday morning that he wanted to do the procedure the next day. Anywho I started spotting slightly on Sat and it's gotten to be a little more each day since...my question issssss...since I've seem to have started to go naturally should I beg them to cancel tomorrow and let me finish on my own or keep the appointment?? I'm really really unsure what to do and DH is just as unsure as me. It's only a week today that my levels began to drop...they went from 68000 on 8/20  to 48000 on 8/24 to 45000 on 8/25 to 36000 on 8/27. Part of me thinks they are going down so quick to just let it be but I don't know. OH and I'm waiting since Thursday night for the doc to call me back and the scum hasn't!! [Poll]

  • It really is a personal choice of what you want to do, there's no right or wrong in the matter.  If you want to try and miscarry naturally, than tell your doctor that.  Even if you've started spotting now, it may be another 2-3 weeks before you completely pass everything (it took me 18 days with my natural m/c for it to be over).  Unfortunetly same goes with the d/c or d/e though, I bled after that for 12 days the first time and 21 days the second time, and than a few days later and right before AF came, I passed one last clot.  I will say that going through the experience of the d/c for me was a little less tramatic than going naturally, as I didn't have to wait for the contents to be expelled everytime I went to the bathroom.

Good Luck in making your decision and I'm sorry for your loss.

  • Oh and also, with going with the d/e d/c procedure, they could also do testing if you want which may help in determining why you m/c'ed.

  • I would suggest that you do what feels right for you.  i personally would rather have a natural m/c than a d&c.  i don't think you should have to "beg" your dr for anything.  he works for you, not the other way around.  if you want to go natural just call and tell them that when you cancel the appt.  GL
  • Do what you feel in your heart is the right thing to do. Do what you think you'd be able to handle the best and the easiest for you. Your doctor should be on board with what you decide. Don't let him strong arm into doing anything. Take your time in your decision. Good luck to you.
