maternity pants for short to average ladies

I went to a few places and so far the maternity pants are way too long. I'm 5"4 or 5"5 which is totally average. I don't want to spend the money to have them shortened and I don't think pregnancy is the time to start wearing heels.

Have any of you petite ladies found pants that aren't too long? If so, where?

Thanks!

Re: maternity pants for short to average ladies

  • I'm 5'5 and the pair I got at Motherhood fit good, the pair I got at Kohls I had to get altered. It only cost $6 to get them altered. I prefered the pants at motherhood best.

  • I'm 5'5" and got 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of pants at motherhood and they fit fine. I didn't have to have them altered.

Actually, I usually just wear them long. I look like a teenager, but whatever.?

  • I'm 5'4" and can usually find pants at motherhood maternity that fit great.  I think they have a petite section that usually has pants with shorter inseams.  Anyway, I've had good luck there.  HTH

  • I am about 5'3" and i bought my first two today...one from Gap and one from Kohl's. I never dreamed that i wouldn't have to get them altered. I am a little larger bottomed anyway...so i buy bigger sizes which means longer pants and have them altered in length at at the waist...Wont have to alter the waist during pregnancy :-)

I'm 4'9...even worse. I haven't found any my length let alone a maternity size 0/2. Motherhood Maternity did mention a Destination Maternity which carries some smaller size and lengths.

  • I'm 5'3" and found some great pants at Gap Maternity.  I had to order them online to get the"short" length, but they fit perfectly.  With a little room for a small heel.  I paid ~$50 for them, but was worth it to not have to hem them and to have some nice pants for work.  GL!

I'm 5'2 and I buy motherhood petite jeans. I love them. I generally wear flats but they would be fine if I wore heels too.

  • Gap ankle and motherhood petite fit really well....I'm about 5'3" and I wear heels almost everyday, so they're a little longish on me.
  • Hey shorties - I'm 5'2" and I really like the gap ankle length jeans. I recently got a pair for $30 on sale, they are very cute.
  • I'm 5'2" and I bought all 3 of my pairs are JC Penny.  The jeans are about a 1/4 inch too long, but the 2 dress pants are perfect even in ballet flats.  I think that I paid $17 for each of them on sale.

  • Gap Maternity has pants in short, regular and long; the short is perfect for me.

  • Motherhood maternity has some of their pants in "petite" length.  Gap maternity also has some of their pants in different lengths.  I feel ya- I have the same issue all the time and I KNOW I will not get to a tailor to fix them if I buy a "regular" length.

I'm 5'0 too! Honestly I gave up trying to find jeans that fit in length a long time ago. I roll mine up too.

I got two pairs of pants at Kohls and while they were both waaaay too long, I just roll the jeans up and I got my mom to hem the black work pants I got. Do you know any one that can sew? They also have those hemming strips that you basically iron into your pants and the hem sticks. I've never used them but I've heard they work well.

  • I'm 5' and I buy the petite size pants.  They may be too short for you though.  I believe they have a 30" inseam.  I have gotten them from JC Penny, Motherhood, and Old Navy.
  • Does anyone know if JCP carries the petite lengths in-store?

I'm 5' 0" and bought my jeans at Motherhood. Once I'm no longer able to wear heels, I'll have to get them hemmed a bit.

  • I'm 5'3" and found a great pair of black pants at Destination Maternity in petite. The length is perfect.

For my other pants, I just use the iron-in hemming tape. Normally I just pay to have my pants hemmed, but like most of you, I didn't want to pay the extra money on maternity clothes. So for a few bucks, instant results.

  • I'm 5'1" and got three pairs of "short" pants from Motherhood and didn't have to hem.  SO comfy too!
