Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Threatened m/c

I should be around 7 weeks today and woke up to bright red bleeding and cramping.  I went to the ER where they did an internal exam (my cervix was closed) and an u/s.  The doctor said the machine was not very good but all they found was an empty sac.  They did bloodwork and my levels are low for where they should be at 7 weeks.  They went ahead and called someone in to do a better ultrasound which found the same thing - an empty sac.  They wanted to make sure before I left the ER that it wasn't in my tube and thankfully it is not.

They said that it could go either way at this point, either it's earlier than I thought or I am having a m/c.  I have to follow up with my OB for more bloodwork on Tuesday to see what happens with my HCG levels.  I am realistic enough to know what's going on.  My symptoms have been gone for 2 days too.

Since I have been home I have had a lot more bleeding and really painful cramping.  My question is how bad was your cramping?  Mine is coming and going but getting to points where it's unbearable almost.  They said all I can take is Tylenol which isn't doing anything for my pain.

Re: Threatened m/c

  • I think I had really bad cramping for about a day and a half - 2 days and then it let up.  Hopefully all will be well...I wish you all the best.

  • Mine started the same way.  The doc told me it could go either way.  But the same day he told me that I started running a fever that night and bleeding heavy.  I knew which way it was going.  I took Tylenol and it took care of the dull ache I had but it did nothing for the major cramps.  They only lasted for about a day and a half.  I had trouble sleeping for a couple of nights because of the cramps.

Sorry for your loss hope you feel better soon.

  • That's sort of how it started for me on Saturday and I miscarried yesterday.  My cramping was pretty light and only lasted a few hours, though.  By the I got to the hospital, the doctors thought it was pretty much over.

I hope things turn out well for you!
