Refridgerate and then freeze BM?

Is this okay to do?

I am trying to conserve freezer bags by combining milk from several pumping sessions.  It would make more sense to have frozen bags in ounces I need instead of all these 1-3 oz bags.  I think someone told me not to do this but I can't remember why... Would I be able to refridgerate the milk and combine until I have the right amount and then freeze?  Could I bring to room temp so that it could seperate before freezing (to make sure I got all out of the bottle)?

  • I have heard many ladies say that it is OK as long as you do it before it expires in the fridge.

  • I always do this and do a bag and freeze session once or twice a week.
  • I always refridgerate and then freeze, no issues there. I wouldn't let it warm fully before freezing though. If you hold the bottle in your hand for a minute, that should warm the sides enough to let the cream melt back into the milk - this is how I combine bottles and it works great.
  • It is perfectly fine to combine milk to freeze. Just don't mix warm milk with cold milk as it can cause it to curdle. Mix milk that is the same temp. Also like PP said, don't let the milk completely warm up before freezing it if it was refrigerated.
