AW: I took blades to my hair!! NBR

So my hair has been growing at a record-breaking rate.  So I woke up today and decided that today was the day that it needed to be tamed.  I am far too cheap to pay someone, and although I haven't cut my own hair in about 6 years, I decided to give it a go in my bathroom.  I took about seven inches off.  It feels SO much better though!  So much lighter!

  • You did a great job!
  • Wow!  That looks great.  I am impressed at how you could do such a good job on your own hair!  Kudos!

  • Ha!  Thank you ladies!  It was for sure challenging.  Even holding my arms up that long was hard, but I'm so glad I did it now!

  • you did that your self? it's really cute. Mine's growing like crazy, I'm trying to work it into a bob, I had it short pre-PG. I'll be there soon.
  • ok maybe you can help me...I just got my hair cut similar to that, but my hair is not super straight so it usually flips up underneath and flips under on top...sort of hard to describe...but what do you use to get it straight like that...a straightening iron...or is there a better way???

by the way I love it!!!

  • Cute :)  It's similar to how I've been having my hair cut lately.

Well I have spiral curls naturally, so yes, I think I can help. Haha!  I have a Chi straightening iron.  It takes me quite a while to straighten it.  But as you get the iron towards the ends of your hair, round it under.  Bring the iron in the direction you want your hair to go.  My naturally flips out, so I REALLY round it under, and about an hour later it looks like the photo.

  • Wow!! Love it.  I wish I could do that or even wear my hear like that.  My face is slightly too round shaped to really pull off that type of cut.

  • Thanks Monica...I was thinking of getting  a straightening iron...so you just solidified that for me!! :-)

Airforcewife...my face is round too and I found it actually looks good and because you can see my neck and collar bone I look thinner than I though...just an fyi.

Oh and here is the pic I used....

  • It looks really good! I'd hate to see it if I tried to cut my own hair...there would be lots of tears.
