Camera rec please!

in 2nd Trimester

My husband and I are searching for a new camera.  We are going back and forth between Canon and Nikon- both SLR.

Would love some feedback......right now we have an old Sony digital.

    Definitely Canon.  My dad and I are both photographers and we both use Canon.  User friendly and takes amazing photos!  GL!

    You can't go wrong with either.

    We're Canon people, we have a DSLR (40D) and an hd camcorder and love them.

    Nikon people will tell you Nikon is the best. My FIL swears by Nikon and our wedding photog was a Nikon user.

    They are honestly equally good cameras...I would go hold them and see which feels better in your hands.  Nikons are bit heavier and clunky in your hand, which some prefer and some don't.

    Nikon lenses are more expensive and Canon has the L series, which are amazing.  It is totally up to you!  FWIW, I have a Canon 5D and love it.

    we are looking to get a new one too and I don't know if you have thought about it but the one thing we don't like about out current camera (which is a sony, in case you care) is that it flashes a bunch of times before taking a picture (and therefore, usually misses cute baby faces).  That is one thing you might take into consideration when looking at any camera.  Good luck!

    I have a Canon Rebel XT and am very satisfied with it.  Beware the lens addiction that often comes with an SLR lol.

    They are both good brands. I'd find someplace that has working ones on hand for you and your DH to test out. You might find ones much easier to use or the menu is easier.

    My father and I are both photographers and we use Nikon.  I just bought my Nikon D90 today! Big Smile  I think both are great brands though and may have considered the Cannon if we didn't already have 2 Nikons and a bunch of lenses for them that won't work on the Cannon.

    Ditto this.  I've owned my own photo company since 1997 and have always used Canon.  They're a little more user friendly in my opinion.
