anybody have a cold/cough while pregnant?

right now i dont have a cold but i do have a extremely irratating cough. no other symptoms just the cough. but its killing me, sometimes i cant even stop coughing. i think it may be allergy related, so i really dont want to go  to the doctors about it, anybody else. oh plus the doctors arent even open today so all i can go to is the er and i dont consider my hacking cough that never stop an emergency, however being pregnant while having it does concern me.

you can try benadryl - it's on my list of safe meds. Or a saline spray if you think it's related to nasal congestion.

I am in the end stage of a miserable head cold, and all I can take is Tylenol. It doesn't even help very much. To top it off it is almost a million degrees and we have no a/c.

I have a cough like that too.  It started as allergies, then the cough came, now I'm also getting over a sinus infection.  The docs wouldnt give me any meds anyway.  They said take Zyrtek or Clairtin or Benadryl (but Benadryl is a limited use thing when pregnant) and tough it out.  I have coughed so hard I have thrown up, and I have coughed so hard I have peed myself in the last 2 weeks.  Both my OBGYN and my Infectious diseases docs pretty much said "that sucks" and "Tough it out".  If theres no green stuff coming up or out, they probably wont give you an antibiotic anyway.

I've had a cold for a week now. I used Tylenol Severe Head Cold with the green light from my MD and also used Afrin at night x3 nights. He said it was all safe. Otherwise, I think I would have suffocated and died!

I caught my husbands cold that he got from some jerk at work so I pulled out my little list and it said that I could take sudafed and robitusin (both plain) even the pharmacist said both were ok so I took those and still dont feel that much better.  Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!!

sounds exactley like what i have.  i figured they really cant do anything for me. and while i have not thrown up i do feel when i cough really hard i almost through up and its horrible. and yes yesterday i coughed so hard a little pee came out. i cant wait to feel better. thanks to all who replied.

too funny- i just posted about this. i have been dying for the last couple of days. i have a list of things i can take which actually includes tylenol, sudefed, and robitussin dm. then i went to the doc because i am coughing up green phlem (yummy i know) and he prescribed robitussin with codine in it. apparently it's completely safe when you are pregnant. that is the only thing thats let me get some sleep. hang in there. i feel for you!
