I had Bell's Palsy once a few years ago and now I feel like I might be getting it again. I read that all the things they gave to me last time i.e. steroids and anti-virals are not safe during pregnancy so I was wondering if anyone here has had it during pregnancy and what they were given for the nerve pain and to help it? TIA!!

Re: Bell's Palsy and pregnancy?
Steroids are safe generally after the end of the first trimester. THey give steroids to women who are going into preterm labor to mature the babies lungs. Prolonged steroid usage can be a problem but the baby usually will just need some after birth until the adrenal glands start to make their own. They would probably just taper the baby off.
I would see your doctor right away. Bell's palsy can have serious consequences for your eye if it gets to the point where your eye won't close all the way.
