Success after IF

Pregnant and painting..

I know this has been asked a million times, but I can't find any posts.. DH is painting the nursery today and we will keep that bedroom door closed with the window open. It's ok for me to go in there at short spurts of time to check out the progress, etc, right? We're using Behr Primer and Paint in one.

Re: Pregnant and painting..

  • Yes, it's fine. I painted my DS's nursery myself... just make sure the room is well-ventilated.

  • I actually painted the nurseries myself.  Dh is a horrible painter.  As long as the room is well ventilated then you should be fine.

  • What pp said.

I'm actually painting the kitchen this morning... as soon as DH wakes up.

  • Yes, just make sure it's well ventillated and take lots of breaks.

    Have fun!

  • The "danger" in being around paint is that the smell might make you?nauseous?or dizzy when you're pregnant even if it never bothered you before. ?The fumes aren't dangerous, especially for latex paint... oil based paints are a different story (anything that requires turpentine or another harsh cleaner to clean up). ?If the directions say to clean with soap and water, you'll be fine.

I painted the whole nursery myself... just kept the window and the door open while I was working and then closed the door but kept the window open while it aired out and finished drying. ??

  • We're painting this weekend too.  We just got odorless primer and the non-toxic paint to be safe.  It was more expensive but I figured it wasn't worth the worry.  Plus, my allergies are really bad so we really can't open all the windows and doors in our house for ventilation for that reason, pregnant or not!
