2nd Trimester

If you couldn't find out the sex (but wanted to)

When DH and I went for our "big" ultrasound at 18 weeks they couldn't tell if LO was a boy or a girl because she was breech. We ended up paying for another ultrasound two weeks later and found out that she is, in fact, a girl. During the two weeks of not knowing everyone, from my doctor, to friends, to the women who did the second ultrasound, said that if she wasn't showing off the goods it was probably a girl. I didn't believe it but it ended up being true. So, now I am wondering, did this happen to anyone else? When your LO showed was it a she or a he?

Re: If you couldn't find out the sex (but wanted to)

  • Our LO shows off his "junk" at every US.  He even plays with it (which they say is common once they get bored with fingers and toes).  I knew he was a boy at my 15 week US before the tech could even get it out of her mouth.  We were surprised with my daughter, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

  • I have 2 girls and preggers with our 3rd girl...I have to say all 3 in my case have hidden their "goods" and we had to find out in later u/s the gender!! So...for me what you say is TRUE!!!!
  • Our doc.doesn't do the big U/S until 24 weeks so they offer a quick U/S at 20 weeks to find out the sex. Our LO was breech also and would show us what she was! The umbilical cord was between her CROSSED legs. So we got our U/S moved up to 23 weeks(doc. was going out of town) and we found out it was a girl!

  • With DS he had the umbilical cord between his legs so we couldn't find out until the birth. Does that count, or only if they're crossing their legs?
