Anyone have experience with foley bulb induction?

My OB mentioned it yesterday as a possible alternative to pitocin should I go considerably overdue.  I didn't think to ask how it compared to the experience of an induction using pitocin or other medicated induction.  I'll ask her at my appointment next week, but was wondering if anyone here had experience with it.  Thanks!

Re: Anyone have experience with foley bulb induction?

  • I was induced at 41w1d and they started me with a foley bulb cath.  It wasn't that bad.  For the 2 weeks leading up to my induction, I was only a fingertip dilated.  When I went in for my induction around 6pm, they started the foley bulb cath at 9:45pm, at 3:30am the foley fell out when I went pee, and they checked me a few min later, and I was 4cm.

    good luck to you!!

  •  I had the foley bulb done the day before my induction so when i got to the hospital the next day i was already 4 cm. It was fine your just contracting a lot. GL!
