Position of bump

So I have a couple co-workers who squealed, "Oh!  You're showing!" this week. They were genuinely excited for me.  I was kind of not happy with this, since I think it's way too early for me to show (I started out a little on the plus side).  Now that I've thought about it, and taken a good look at myself, I think they were referring to the "bump" above my waistline.  That's from food people!!  So depressed....

Re: Position of bump

  • I don't think I really started to show until 16-17 weeks, but I definitely had a "puffy" belly, partially as a result of bloat, beforehand.

  • I've had a couple people say that too.  I was small prior to getting pregnant, but the baby's pushed the bit of fat on my stomach and all my intestines, etc. up and OUT (I have a short torso and nowhere else for the insides to go)...I don't have a baby bump, that's just bloat, displaced fat and organs tyvm!!!

People just don't get it.  I know they're trying to be nice, so I try to focus on the fact that they are excited.

  • I just started showing within the last week.  Today it kind of looks like a real bump and I am totally excited.  I would be exicted even if it was tiny of tinest bumps.  Be happy with your bump not sad!!
  • I had a little cry session last night in the shower because of my beer belly that people keep calling a beautiful bump LOL
  • My SIL rubbed my belly when I was only 7 weeks and was like "awww".. she was trying to be sweet, but it just made me a little self-conscious b/c I knew it wasn't actually a bump, just a belly!
