2nd Trimester

Childbirth Prep Classes

I know this has been asked before but when are you/will you take your childbirth prep classes?  The one that we need to take is 4 weeks and a session starts next week (I'll be almost 26 weeks through 29 weeks) or we can wait until 31 weeks (through 34 weeks).  I'd like to take it earlier to calm some of my fears but I don't want to be too early.

Re: Childbirth Prep Classes

  • My midwife recommended classes at the six-month mark, which is halfway through when I'll be taking a four-week session. I'd rather go a little early so I can practice all the new techniques. We're signed up for Hypnobirthing.

  • We are taking a child birth class (Lamaze) when I am 33 weeks.  It is a whole day class.  We had to work it around my shower, the holidays, and deer hunting.

  • We're taking a 2 week one (split up by labor day).  I will be 34w5d at our first one and 36w5d at our second one.

  • I just signed up for Lamaze (5 week session) starting in October. I'll be only 22 weeks, but with twins I was told to make sure to get everything done before 30 weeks (high possibility of bedrest) and I didn't want to get too overwhelmed with the holidays coming up. I think taking it early is great - hopefully it will help me to relax and keep these babies in as long as possible!
  • We are taking a one full day one. I will be 28 weeks.
  • I'm taking my hospital class around 32w (I forget the exact calculation). It's a full weekend course and even though I may be on bedrest (have had a ton of complications so far) my OB said he'd clear me off it to go to the class if I was since it's at the hospital where the on call doc would be should anything go wrong.
  • Our class is 4 weeks.  I'll be 30-34 weeks during the class period.  The next offered class, I would have been 34-38 and I thought that was really cutting it close.

  • Your post made me think to check the classes I already registered for against my dates -- and it turns out I'll be 36-38 weeks! Now I'm worried that this is too late -- but I would think at 31-34 weeks you should be ok.
