Girls name issues

So we dont know what team were on yet but we can't agree on a girls name.  We have the boys name all set (Brandon Scott) and for girls....here's the list:

-Gracie Marie

-Samantha (not sure I love this name, DH dated someone named Samantha that he so kindly told me after I told him i really liked this name....ugh soooo turned me off to it!)

-Allegra Madison (i told my mom the name and she said it was too trendy)....ugh so not sure I like this anymore either

What are some other GIRLS names other people are considering??

  • Allegra -- isn't that a medicine??

I like Gracie, but it's getting to be popular.

    I LOOOOOOOOOVE Samantha!

  • From your list, I only like Samantha, and your DH having an ex by that name would definitely ruin it for me if I were you!

Gracie (and all forms of Grace) ?are just so popular now. ?I swear every baby girl I know born in the past year has the mn Grace. ?Not quite, but it seems that way.

And I REALLY don't like Allegra Madison. ?I know a 30 year old named Allegra who loved her name....until it became a well known allergy med. ?She hates her name now. ?And Madison is just SO trendy.

I'd keep working on it, you have plenty of time! ?Visit the Baby Names board, you'll get some good suggestions there.?

  • We are considering Sierra, Sophie and Ainsley.

I like Gracie and Samantha! (I must admit that while pretty and I like it, Allegra reminds me of my allergy medicine.)

  • We are going with Melody if we have a girl.

  • Just my opinion here but..

Gracie is WAY too overdone these days(we considered it for mn for a second)

Samantha- i hate androgenous names.. Sam.. Pat.. etc.

Allegra- allegro is a music term meaning lively. i LOVE it.

    btw- we've chosen Adelia Paige

  • OMG didn't even think of the allergy med Allegra--hello! (i'm not an allergy suffer, but geez where have I been?)  Ok scratch that.

Gracie is also a name that everyone else has --i think it's on the top ten list!

Back to the drawing board I guess!!!!!!!  I wish I were one of thsoe women who had a name picked out since I was 20 and just knew that's the name i'd want!  This can be so difficult!!!!!!!

  • We're likely going with Lucy Colleen (both family names). I would suggest waiting on the name debate until your big U/S. We were totally undecided on boy names and I'm glad we didn't waste a ton of time since we won't need them (this time at least!),

  • Sorry, all of those names are NMS - especially Allegra. I just think of the allergy drug.

DH and I can't decide on any girl names either as we both have completely different tastes in names. Unfortunately, I can't really help you there.

  • I hear you on the NMS --i'm not even sure what my style is at this point.

I personally have a unique name (Marilyn) which has always been cool to grow up with and hey who doesn't like being asked if tye were named after Marilyn Monroe (that is, until Marilyn Manson came and ruined everything!!)

Guess I just need more time :)

    charlotte

    miranda

    samantha

  • I LOVE Charlotte.....but a close friend just named her baby girl that---I feel like i'm "stealing" her baby's name if I use it now too......ugh!!

  • Hold on, hold on, in 2008 "Grace" was ranked 21, "Gracie" (though I don't know how she'll feel about it when an adult) was ranked 99.  It's popularity was actually a little higher in previous years which would indicate that it is not a fad at all.  It is well liked, which is a good thing, but as long as it's not in the top 10 you'll probably not have 5 other girls with the same name in her class... (if that's what you're worried about).

Go to https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ to look up the popularity trend for your favorite names - you can go back more than 100 years.

  • Oh, and Samantha has been much more popular than Grace in the past 20 years... (if we're gonna bring up popularity)

  • I will put money on it that your having a boy. That's what happened with ALL my pregnancies. With my son I had a boys name picked and couldn't come up with a girls and with my daughter and my LO coming I had girls and couldn't decide on boys.

    Just a thought.... Wink

  • We have settles on Delilah if its a girl.  I like Gracie a lot. It is cute for a little girl and can be Grace when she is older and needs to be a "grownup"
