My doctor was not the best and didn't offer it to me even after I mentioned it. So I left her practice and I have an appointment with a new doctor on Monday, but I realize it will be too late for the test. Are there other tests you can have done, did you regret not getting it? I am just worried that something could be wrong and b/c of my incompetent doctor, I may have put the baby in harm.
Re: Anyone not have the NT Scan?
DH and I chose not to do the NT scan and I have absolutely no regrets about that decision.
If something is wrong, the NT scan would detect it, but there isn't much that they can do about it, which is one of the main reasons DH and I chose not to go through with it. If you are really concerned, there are other tests that can be done when you get closer to 20 weeks to determine if there are chomosomal abnormalities, but in the meantime, try not to worry- it's not good for you or your LO!
I had the NT scan, but...
your dr should offer you a quad screen (Blood test) about 15-17 weeks. It also looks for Down's syndrome, and a few other genetic abnormalities. It has a higher false postive rate than an NT scan but it basically looks for the same abnormalities.
I didn't have the NT scan...by the time I thought about it, it was too late. I did have the AFP test done (which also is a test for Down's, etc) at around 15 weeks or so. I don't regret not getting the NT scan, because it wouldn't have changed my view on the baby or this pregnancy.
