why does everyone not like Target maternity?

I have seen a few people comment on here how they don't like Target's maternity clothes.  I think they actually have a lot of cute things.  Just curious, have you had a bad experience with wear and tear?

  • I think they have some cute stuff.

  • I don't get it, either. The few things that I've purchased at Target I've really liked. Their selection is crap at my local Target, but I still like the quality/style/prices.

I like their maternity line infinitely more than Old Navy's, which generally gets raves around here.

  • The Target stores by me barely carry any of the maternity so unless I want to get it online, im out of luck.  Online though it does look cute.

  • From a plus-size girl's perspective, I tried on two maternity shirts when I was around 12 weeks... and their shirts run WAY small.
  • I have some cute stuff and didn't have any problems when DD #1 came along.
  • Target's mat stuff si cute, but a VERY small selection. I look on the clearance rack every time I go and always end up with one shirt or a pair of shorts. I do swear by Old Navy, though.

     Hope that helps!

  • I got a pair of shorts and a tankinin swimsuit from Target. However it is very hit and miss when you go there and they never have more than one or two sizes of an item.

  • The shirts I have from target have shrunk. The also tend to run a little small. I was always in a Small before pregnancy, I will def. have to buy up because my target shirts are not going to last.

  • My local Target has one rack and even that rack is interspersed with plus sized pieces, and my Old Navy doesn't even have a maternity section, so all i have is the Motherhood store!

I would kill to be able to try on the cute stuff i see online, but like many other women i hate buying clothes without being able to try them on!

  • it fits me really weird and I'm not a strange size (10/12 pre-pg).
  • I think 30 bucks is too much for shorts personally. Plus I have mediums from there and they are way too tiny. And I'm very very tiny.

  • I'm fine with target shorts and capris, but I'm petite and my local Targets don't carry petite maternity sizes, so their pants don't work for me.  I also have a couple of t-shirts that have worked pretty well.

I wasn't impressed with their tank tops and dresses though.  They are oddly shaped, so they don't work well with bras.  I can't think of too many pregnant people that can go without bras.  So, almost all of my tops from from Motherhood and Old Navy.

  • I've gotten most of my stuff from Target- the one I went to had a decent selection with a "Liz Lange for Target" section. i thought the sizes ran large....and the shorts I bought were (full price) $20, shirts $15. This was at the Waterfront Target in Pittsburgh. I think the quality has been excellent-especially for the prices. I like Gap Maternity more (more options) but it's much more expensive.

  • I think they have cute stuff. But my gripes are

    1. the section is so small there isn't much there

    2. there are only ever XS or XXL can a girl just get a size in the middle please?

  • My Target doesn't have a great selection and it is all very casual.  I don't need as much casual since I have to dress up for work every day. (I manage a bank)  Also the only top I have bought from there, started to unravel after 1 wash.  Normally I love Target, but not for maternity.
