Random product question

Have any of you ladies done any price comparing at different places?  We registered at Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us, but while I'm on-line, I randomly check sites like Walmart or Target for lower prices.  Well during one of my browsing sessions, I found that walmart has some amazing prices.  I registered for the Fisher-Price My little lamb swing and at BBB and BRU, it's $149.  At Walmart it is $119.  Same thing with other larger items.  I am tempted to just buy them from Walmart and take them of my registry.  We aren't registering at Walmart, it's not even an option, but if I can save some money, it may be worth it.  I know My mom wants me to leave larger items on my registry for my family because they tend to go crazy when it comes to baby showers, but I hate for someone to spend $40-$50 more on an item that I can get for so much less.  So I guess my question is would you just wait for your shower or would you buy these items throughout the pregnancy from Walmart and take them off the registry?

Re: Random product question

  • What's wrong with registering at Walmart? It's the same product... We did BRU & Walmart for this very reason, WM had the prices beat on most of the items by at least $20. I price shopped every item on our registry and put in on the site with the cheaper price.

Nothing is wrong with it, but we already have 2  registries and I do not want to add a 3rd.  It took forever to pick everything out and some things aren't available at both BRU and BBB.

  • This is my huband's family and my own family's first grand child, and even knowing that they will go crazy and buy a ton of stuff for me, I don't want other people to spend so much more money when it is cheaper at another store, which is why I switched from Walmart.com baby registry to Target.com because alot of the walmart stuff I wanted was even just 5-10 dollars cheaper and since we live in hawaii, shipping costs are beyond stupid, so. I even when as far as to go to craigslist.com for alot of my big ticket items, already bought a crib and changing table for a 1/4 of the original price from my registry. :D
  • That's one of the reasons we registered at Wal-Mart, it's hard to beat their prices. Seems easier just to register there IMO- like pp said, it's the same product.
  • The Pack N Play I want is almost $60 cheaper at Wal-Mart than BRU, so I decided that I will register at both after doing futher price checking.
  • Actually, the pack n play was $20 cheaper, the travel system was $60 cheaper.

  • If I was you, I would wait until after the shower. Or if you could get the word out that the registry on BRU & BBB are the items that you want but that people should feel free to shop around for better pricing. Keep in mind also that BBB accepts Bed, Bath & Beyond 20% off coupons so if people know that, that will help as well. I am having the exact same issue. I am not cheap but dont believe in spending unnecessary money either. So we are waiting until after the shower and then will shop around for the rest of our registry items. GL!
