Hello! travel system vs. stroller frame/car seat. What are your comments on each and what brand seems to be the best as in folding up and not too heavy, etc?
We already have a lightweight stroller that my 2-1/2 year old uses and like it, but have no stroller/car seat for a newborn. So I don't know if we should just buy a whole new system or go with a frame and then move the baby to the one we have.
Re: stroller question
I'd suggest going and testing them out in the store and seeing which one you like best. Since you have an older child you'll see the pros and cons more than us first time moms.
FWIW we chose the chicco cortina travel system after testing a bunch.
The baby bargains book recommends going with a Infant car seat and a snap and go stroller. They are lighter, easier to carry around, and apparently all you really need. The book frowns upon travel systems because the are very heavy, bulky and difficult to get around. The book warns that most new mothers regret getting the travel system once they actually try using it, and end up running out and getting a lightweight stroller at 6 months.
This is just what the book recommends. I'm not a parent (yet) and don't have any experience. I'm going with the book's recommendation and getting a snap and go.
I am looking into getting the Peg Perego Si stroller. You can put the car seat on it and it is a regular lightweight stroller. It weighs like 12 lbs. Most snap and go's are 10 -12lbs as well so I figure I might as well spend more and get something that I can use later as well.
The UppaBaby Vista is also on my list but it is almost twice as much and much heavier - 18lbs for the frame.
