2nd Trimester

Painful Cramps at 14 weeks?

Last night I was laying on the couch watching TV with DH and I suddenly had really painful cramps in my lower back.  I rolled over and the cramps shifted to my lower belly.  They lasted for about 5-10 minutes and went away.  No bleeding and the cramping has not come back since.  I called my Dr. this morning and they said if it comes back again to come in.

Has anyone had this happen? I got really worried simply because the cramps were pretty strong. They were sharper than menstrual cramps.

Thanks!

  • Round ligament pain perhaps?  I get some pretty powerful ligament pain in some positions laying down.

  • I had the SAME thing, same time too. They lasted for about 4 weeks, but my doctor said "no bleeding, no worries." This is my third and I had never experienced it before so I was really anxious about it. And I was comparing the pain to labor pains, so I was just sure there was something wrong! But they've been completely gone since so hopefully yours will get better soon.
  • I had this and my doctor said that it was normal. She adivised that it was ligement pain. As long as it is not consistent, no spotting and the pain goes away you are fine.

  • Same thing happened to me around that time. Round ligament pain can be a pain in the a$$, LITERALLY!!! Good Luck!! Just try and adjust the way you are sitting pretty frequently. Also, if it comes back or persists, you may want to get checked. I had a raging bladder infection that caused similar issues! Have a good one!!
  • Whew!  That is so reassuring, ladies!  Thank you so much!
