Is anyone experience numbness??

Lately my legs, arms and hands go numb a lot.  It happens throughout the night when I am sleeping, as well as during the day.  It happens if I just have my arms folded or bent from being on the phone.  It has started to happen so often it is freaking me out.  Anyone else experience this? Is it "normal"??

  • Not sure if it's normal, although I have the same problem! It's like if I am sitting for too long in a wierd pos my legs go numb and when i wake up sometimes my hands are numb. Freaking me out

  • The outside of my right thigh goes numb all the time, I asked my Doc and she said it was probably the baby pinching a nerve.... feels like lack of circulation to me though. She said there were some exercises that may help otherwise it's physical therapy.
  • I have the same problems and MW told me it can be from sleeping on my back and cutting off the vena cava which is the main blood vein running down the middle of your body. There is also something called pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel and I got some wrist splints to sleep in and it helped alot. No matter how I go to sleep on my side, I always wake up on my back. She said not to worry about it, that she has never heard of anything bad happening from sleeping on your back but when you wake up just turn back to your side or use a pillow to wedge under one side so you are at a slight angle. It is very annoying though.
  • I'm guessing it's normal...it happens to me and to several others that commented on my post. I plan on running it by my OB at my 24 week appt but I've been told it's pretty normal. Good to know that others are havign the same symtoms.

    Good luck!

  • Parts of my legs have been numb constantly for months! Sometimes it is more intense than other times and it can be a little painful as well. I asked my doctor and he said he thought it was because of the extra weight I am carrying in front putting pressure on my back and somehow the pressure is going to my legs? Sounds strange but it made sense when he told me! Smile He said it is nothing to worry about (he checked to make sure I didn't have blood clots or anything) and that it is just a pain. So, I haven't really worried about it since then. You might want to mention it to the doctor when you see him and see what he says. But, from what my Doc says, it's nothing to worry about. Good luck with everything!

Yes, it's normal. You have a lot of extra fluid and of course your ute putting pressure on various veins and nerves. Do try to sleep on your side and be aware of having good posture, not crossing your legs too much, etc - just for comfort's sake.
  • if it's in your arms when they are bent it could be pregnancy induced Cubital tunnel syndrome, especially if it is in your ring and pinky fingers.

The same thing has been happening to me.

If I sleep on my side with my arms mostly straight it seems to help.

Also try not to lean to hard on your elbows as that can pinch your ulnar nerve which because of the extra fluids has an extra tight space to deal with.
