High-Risk Pregnancy

High BP question

So I've been on this board as a GD mama but at my appt today my BP was slightly high (146/84). They had me rest a while and it went down. I have a feeling it might have been partially b/c I was having my first internal and was nervous/anxious about it. Anyways, my doc said I didn't have any other -signs of Pre-e but to keep an eye out for swelling, headaches, blurry vision, and just not feeling well. I borrowed a BP monitor from a friend and was just wondering what was considered high BP for you guys? I think I remember the nurse telling my a couple months ago 140/90 but now I can't remember for sure. TIA

Re: High BP question

  • anything over 150/95 is considered high for me.  It differs though.  If your typical office visit BP is 100/70, then 130/85 would be high.

  • Typically 140/90 puts you in a pre-e category.... but it depends on your baseline - but if they considered yours high today, I would say that you should call if you see 2 readings in a row of 140/90 or more. Best of luck.
  • mine's always elevated at the dr's office b/c I get anxious too. At home it tends to be around 115/65. If it got up to 130 at home I'd call, since I know this would be high for me. I had HELLP with my son and my BP got up to around 140. Again, not skyrocketing but for me it's high. Just depends on what you're readings typically are.
