getting the quad screen bloodwork done?
"Oh, you're high risk for Downs for your age group, but over 99% of the time the ladies go in for their ultrasound and everything is fine."
I kind of regret having the screen done to begin with. On the bright side, since I have to go to a different facility to have the higher level U/S done, I get to see the baby a week earlier than I would have.
Blech though. Not what I wanted to hear today.
Re: why did I bother
I so opted out of every kind of screen/test during pregnancy. ?I know myself well enough to know that if I'd gotten that response to my test scores I'd have miscarried from stress alone. ?I don't handle stress well AT ALL. ?
But, on the bright side, like you were told 99% the sonogram reveals that everything is fine. ?I'm sure that you're part of that 99%. ?Hopefully the next sonogram isn't too far in the future so you won't have to worry for much longer! ?GL to you and yours!?
I was in the same percentile. The u/s showed that everything was, indeed, fine. I freaked out(ie bawled my eyes out) when I first heard, but after talking to my cousin(same situation with a beautiful and healthy baby girl), I calmed down enough for the u/s. Next time around, I'll be over 35 so I'm just doing the amnio(which I was avoiding in this pregnancy).
You can't get it completely out of your head, but you can dial it down. When you think about the odds, they're still VERY good. It's frustrating waiting for that sonogram, but hopefully, all of your worries will be dissipated by it!
