NBR (Or not?) Leg Pain...

Yesterday I was laying down for a bit.  When I woke up and got out of bed, as soon as I put my feet down, I felt a bad pain in my upper thigh.  When I press on the area, I can feel exactly where it hurts.  Just putting pressure on my leg (standing or walking) causes it to hurt and pushing on the area (very specific area) hurts badly.

I couldn't see anything on the area - no discoloration or anything.  I figured I would wait and see.

Today, I am still having the pain. I just looked at the area and it is just very slightly pink... you'd have to know you were looking for something to even see the pink area.

Any clue what this is?!  All I was doing was laying down?

Re: NBR (Or not?) Leg Pain...

  • Could be your sciatic (spelling) nerve?  Maybe the baby is aggravating it...

  • I have sciatic a lot - usually on my lower back.  This is happening on the front of my thigh... sorry, didn't explain that.
  • I'd call the doctor.  They might want to have you come in to rule out a blood clot.  I have pain in my calf muscle and they had me come in for an u/s of my leg to make sure I didn't have a clot.  The whole story is in my blog if you're interested.  Mine didn't turn out to be a clot, but I'm glad I got checked out b/c they are very serious.  Good luck!

  • I've been randomly getting leg cramps at night that usually wake me up, like a charley horse, but I haven't had any redness or swelling.  The soreness usually lasts 2 -3 days after the episode though.  From what I've read, this is just another pleasant symptom of pregnancy....

  • I'm going to email the doctor regarding a blood clot... I did drive 6 hour yesterday.  (3 before the pain started and 3 after).
  • I'd definitely get it checked for a blood clot. I had a blood clot about 2 years ago and it can be very serious (even fatal) if you don't get it checked out and treated properly. I don't want to scare you but it's definitely worth getting looked at asap.
  • I'm headed into the doctor at 3:30 to check it out.  I read about the symptoms online and it sounds dead-on.  Especially since I drove 3 hours (each way) yesterday.

    Thanks for the advice, ladies!

  • I'm glad you're getting checked out, keep us posted!
