Cost for Injectables?

Sorry if this has been asked before (I'm sure it has) but my search isnt working...

How much do you pay for your injectables?  Does insurance cover any of it?

Thanks!

Re: Cost for Injectables?

  • a lot depends on what drugs, what dosage you're on (how much of those drugs you need to order), whether you're doing IUI or IVF, and your specific insurance policy.      my gonal-f for this IVF cost about $2500...  and we were OOP for it because we were still meeting our high deductible on our insurance.   but now that we've met it, if we need more before the end of the year, it'll be covered.    but my SIL takes much higher dosages and multiple kinds of drugs, and her drugs get quoted as high as $6000.00 or more.
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • I am doing injectable IUI.  I have generic drug coverage only. I pay $15 copay for Leuprolide (generic leupron) and the others are OOP. I pay for the other two:

    Follistim 900x3 iu viles= $574.69 each (yes, $1724.07 total)

    Ovidril $72.00

Because I buy the drugs through my insurance company I do pay a member price for 'retail'.  If I went to and outside pharm it would be over $700 per vile of the Follistim so there is a small built in disocunt.  On the upside my RE is coded as a general gyno with my insurance so I make a little up in co-pays.  I pay him $30 instead of a specialist copay of $50. It does add up when I am in the office up to 7x a cycle!!!

     Hope that was helpful!

  • I asked my RE's office this, and they said plan to pay about $750 for Gonal-f if we have to move onto IUI + injectibles.
