Teachers-a super random question/thought

While I don't teach regular school, I've taught ballet to kids for years.  Yesterday a random thought popped into my mind and I'm wondering if I'm the only one who feels this way.

Have you ever wondered if you LO will be just like that one student that drove you up the wall and you couldn't wait until they advanced to the next level/grade so you don't have to teach them anymore?  Part of me thinks my child will be just like that student as punishment for not wanting to teach a certain child.

I'll admit it... I'm a terrible person!

  • I'm a special education teacher...I think about this a lot. Especially last year when I had a VERY difficult student. Before becoming a special ed teacher, I was a counselor for behaviorally disturbed kids. I wondered about all that too...

  • YES!    And as it seems to be turning out, Olivia WILL be that kid who knows everything, doesn't always listen, tries to get away with everything, and when she starts kindergarten she'll probably outside with the boys peeing on the grass.    **Sigh***   She's really a great kid.......

  • I teach K and I think this all the time. I had one little girl who was so mean and would shake her fists at kids like she was going to hit them and then she would yell at them. I hope thats not how DD will be!
  • Lol. In my last three years of teaching early childhood I've only had 3 white kids, all the others have been different ethnicity then me.  I don't worry about LO looking like a student, but I can't use names of students I have had.  I associate names with personalities and I can't use them.  This has caused some problems as I started teaching in 2001 and that's a lot of names.
